Google debuts first-ever magnetic wireless charging line

Google confirmed that more Pixelsnap-compatible accessories, including car mounts, desk docks, and modular cases, are currently in development.

Google has officially stepped into the magnetic charging arena, announcing its first line of magnetic wireless charging accessories under the name PixelSnap, a new ecosystem that leverages the universal Qi2 standard.

The reveal came during the company’s latest 'Made by Google' event yesterday, where the tech giant also introduced the new Pixel 10 series.

For the first time, Pixel devices will support magnetic wireless charging natively, a feature long enjoyed by Apple users through MagSafe.

The launch signals Google's commitment to closing that accessory gap while promoting cross-brand compatibility via the next-gen Qi2 protocol.

What is pixelsnap?

PixelSnap is Google’s new hardware lineup of magnetically attachable chargers, stands, grips, and cases, designed to work seamlessly with the Pixel 10, Pixel 10 Pro, Pixel 10 Pro XL, and Pixel 10 Pro Fold.

The system uses a built-in magnetic ring in each phone, ensuring perfect alignment with PixelSnap accessories for efficient wireless charging and smart mounting.

Key releases include:

PixelSnap charger: A slim, magnetic puck charger offering up to 25W charging on Pixel 10 devices, retailing for $39.99 (Sh5,164.12).

PixelSnap stand bundle comes with the magnetic puck and a minimalist stand for hands-free desk or bedside use for $69.99(Sh9,039.21).

PixelSnap ring grip: A magnetic kickstand and grip accessory, perfect for on-the-go support for $29.99( Sh3,873.21). The kickstand attaches to the phone for comfortable hands-free use. It features a soft microfiber liner and full rotation, making it perfect for watching content or video calling.

PixelSnap-compatible cases: Designed to preserve magnetic and wireless charging functionality without removal, priced between $49.99 (Sh6,456.21) and $69.99 (Sh9,039.21).

Dual-Port 67W USB-C power adapter: Compact charger that intelligently prioritises Pixel devices when multiple gadgets are plugged in for $59.99 (Sh7,747.71).

Until now, Google lagged behind Apple in offering a magnetic accessory ecosystem.

With PixelSnap, Google is positioning itself not just to compete, but to unify Android users under a more consistent, Qi2-compliant magnetic platform.

"PixelSnap isn’t just about charging," said a Google spokesperson. "It’s about transforming everyday phone use, from how your device sits on your nightstand to how it stays upright during a video call."

PixelSnap accessories are available for preorder now and will ship alongside the Pixel 10 lineup in the coming weeks.

Google confirmed that more PixelSnap-compatible accessories, including car mounts, desk docks, and modular cases, are currently in development.
